Let's enjoy listening and sharing experiences about our relationship with art, with AKA. What can a place like AKA provide? What do you need from a place like AKA? What do you wish for AKA?

With her relational aesthetics, improv and theatre experience, Kris will offer easygoing enjoyable artful engagement using music, game, story sharing, conversation to create pathways for community participants to be involved, heard and connected. 

Tasty snacks and refreshments will be enjoyed!

To allow time and space to practice listening while making food & new friends. What can a place like aka provide? What do you need from a place like aka? What are your wishes for aka?

Treaty 4 Filipina artist Kris Alvarez is lucky to make relationships while making art with great people from Curtain Razors, Fadadance, Artesian, Globe Theatre, Common Weal, Dunlop Art Gallery, So Glad, Persephone.

Kris performs: Bad Blood, Carmen Angel - Curtain Razors, Joey Tremblay / Making Spirits Bright – Globe, Jennifer Brewin / Bright Half Life – Perspehone, KP Smith

She makes: Golden Potluck, Burnt Sienna, Acknowledging. And Kris is humbled by work like Reasonable Doubt - Joel Bernbaum, Yvette Nolan, Lancelot Knight

She enjoys working in film (Donkeyhead, Agam Darshi), parks (Other Side of the River, Wâhkôhtowin, Sum Theatre), TV (ZARQA, CBC Gem).

Summer 2023, Kris joined amazing artists to collaborate (Homebuddies - So Glad, It’s Not a Box) and present at the 2023 Prague Quadrennial. And Burnt Sienna Boulevard -her reimagined variety show for younger audiences- was invited back to the Regina Folk Fest.

Currently, Kris is writing a new play (Banana Musik) creating it alongside her parents. She is back on Treaty 6 Saskatoon as the playwright for Sum Theatre’s 2024 Theatre in the Park.
