AKA artist-run is committed to acting as a centre for critical discourse, experimental risk-taking, and as a promoter of artistic self-determination. We foster discussion, build connections between artists, their community and a national audience, and we support emerging practices in all media produced by a diversity of voices. As of April 2014 one vacancy exists on the AKA Board, interested persons should submit a letter of interest and a C.V. and be prepared to commit an average of 6 to 8 hours per month of volunteer time and a two-year term.
The Board meets every four weeks. Meetings include: reviewing and addressing issues related to the governance and sustainability of the organization as a whole, such as programming, budget, finance, fundraising, and strategic and policy initiatives. The Board maintains several standing committees to assist in the governance of the organization.
